Stats about Mars
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun and the seventh largest in out solar system. It orbits at 227,940,000 km (1.52 AU) from Sun, its diameter is 6,794 km, and its mass is6.4219e23 kg. Mars (roman name) is a god of war. (If you have watched Herules or Xena or TV, you would know this guy by his greek name, Ares.) Sometimes people call it the red plant because of its distinct red color which is due to the minerals in its soil.
Interesting facts:
- Mars was a god of agriculture before becoming the Greek god Ares.(Strange that it just happens that Mars used to be a argriculture guy AND we currently are trying to cultivate Mars)
- The name of the month March derives from Mars.
- Many think Mars used to be habitable but now is cold and dry.
